I'll overwhelm 'serious boxer' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua will face Jake Paul in an eight-round contest which will be broadcast in real-time on Netflix.

Briton Anthony Joshua said he will "stamp all over" Jake Paul and "overpower" the American as the combatants came face-to-face to build hype for next month's heavyweight fight.

Former two-time world heavyweight champion Joshua faces YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a massive uneven pairing - at Miami's Kaseya Center on 19 December.

Boxer's Attitude

"I plan to injure his face and hurt his body. I aim to demonstrate my superiority," Joshua, 35, stated.

"I'll stamp all over him. That's a fighter's mentality.

"I'm going to really want to hurt him. That's what I want to do."

Civil Exchange

In spite of those words, a composed Anthony Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - usually recognized for his showmanship - exchanged pleasantries and kept it respectful with each other.

Paul instead criticized former Joshua rival Francis Ngannou and called him "a joke" after the Cameroonian declined a bout proposal.

Taking Aim at Tyson Fury

Joshua, at the same time, took aim at UK opponent Fury - and refused a £1m bet 'The Gypsy King' says he will place on a Paul victory.

"[Paul] is superior to Fury - he's actually sitting here," Joshua stated.

"I respect him for that."

Legitimate Opponent

Despite stating he plans to punish Paul, Anthony Joshua refused to speak negatively about his rival's pugilistic talent.

"Jake Paul is a credible opponent," he remarked.

Paul's Background

Paul - who first rose to fame on the Disney Channel - has primarily fought mixed martial artists or declining opponents since becoming pro.

He was defeated by British fighter Fury in last year.

Financial Success

Still, the novice is still one of boxing's largest commercial attractions, regularly earning massive financial rewards.

Prediction and Confidence

The 28 year old anticipated a stoppage in rounds four or five and claimed he would prevent the highly-expected Joshua–Fury fight, which is reportedly being planned for 2026.

"The next fight will be myself against Tyson Fury in the coming year," Jake Paul said.

Size Disparity

As Joshua and Paul met for the usual confrontation, with their physical disparity on show, it emphasized just how improbable this entire matchup is - and how remarkable it is that the match is actually going ahead.
